Snow Day!

So it was a snow day for anyone still in school but that just meant a good day to go take pictures before work! I am trying to get a bunch of picture before we move since it doesn't snow down there and we won't be back up here around snow until December. I am obsessed with the way the snow sticks on trees-especially evergreens.

The view from my van-it's not a blurry picture that's just really what it looked like out!
I'm an idiot and decided to leave my boots at work yesterday and so instead of grabbing tennis shoes slipped these one. Ya it was a little cold!
I love icicles! This one is outside my house. The pic isn't great because I took it through a dirty window but it shows how big some of them are!
 Random
The way the snow piled on top of these amazed me!
And of course one of the evergreens!
Had to add a pic of this. This car was in front of me! Pretty sure it is illegal to not wipe off your front or back windows but apparently they didn't care!

73. Watch 101 new movies (2/101)

Day Zero Project-Goal 73

Tonight we don't have the boys so we decided to rent movies and just relax. We watched Machete first which to me was a cheesy action flick but hubby loved it. Then we watched Devil. This one wasn't near as good as it had looked in the previews but still wasn't horrible. I did however find a good new ice cream I ate while watching these-Ben and Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream. I love mint stuff and cookies so it was a perfect combo for me!

Explanations

So since we have started telling people we are moving the first question everyone asks is Why? I don't know why this bothers me because I'd ask the same thing but it's getting old. Can't I just do something because I want to?! Anyways I decided to post a short explanation of why we are moving and why we chose Florida.

Why move? For probably three or more years now we are constantly saying 'let's move here' or 'let's move there' and neither of us can ever agree on a place to go. Toad always wants to go North which I refuse because I hate the cold! The most ridiculous request he seems to really want has been Alaska-no thank you!! Anyways we both decided that if we want to move out of state (which was the goal) we need to hurry up and do it before the kids start making friends and getting too attached so then the move goes a lot easier on everyone.

We have been staying around here because we felt bad taking the boys away from their families. WE are their most important family though and there is no reason the extended family can't come visit and it's not like we will never make it back to Iowa either. We just felt that we needed to do what we wanted for once instead of following our families wishes.

Neither of us is happy with our jobs. Toad works way too many hours a week and by the time he gets home the boys and I are ready for bed so he has to sit downstairs and eat supper while we get ready for bed and a lot of times we go to bed without him. I hate this because not only does he not get to spend much time with the kids and I, but also because I hate going to bed alone. As for my job-yes I make good money to do nothing but I am soo bored with it that it's not even funny. I was promised a promotion a long time ago and never got anywhere. I can do more than some of the sale's people and they actually come to me with questions, which I find pathetic. Basically we both feel like we are stuck in dead-end jobs we hate so why stay with them if we can start over?

Why Florida? Because I had brought it up before (back to the hating the cold part) and now I have a good friend I met online down there. I said I wanted to move somewhere where I know at least one person in case of emergencies or something so there we go. Yes I know, I met her online how can I trust her? Well sometimes you have to take chances and this one I'm willing to take. We seem to have a lot in common and her son is only 2 days older than Bentley so one of the boys already even has a playmate!

We are both hoping this move will bring our family closer together and make us depend on eachother along with appreciating the small things we do. I know it is taking a huge risk, especially having two kids, but for some reason I am completely calm about it-which I'm hoping is a sign it is the right thing to do.

It's Official!

We have finally both told our parents and work so I can tell anyone else-we are moving next month!!  We are picking up and moving to Florida. Normally I would be super scared of this but for some reason I am completely laid back and excited. We are still working out some of the details but it will happen!

I've never lived more than 2 hours away from my family so it will be interesting, especially since that was back before I had kids. They do help us out with them a lot but at the same time we always feel like a burden asking for help. We are both hoping this move will help us depend on eachother more and bring our family closer together.

Day Zero Project

So I found something new to start. It's called the Day Zero Project. You make 101 goals and have 1001 days to complete them. There is a tab above to check out my goals and watch as I reach them. Feel free to do this also if interested!

30 Day of Truth-Day 30

Day 30-A letter to the one you love.

I need to start this off by saying this officially the longest I have kept a blog going! I always start them and forget about them butI really want to stick with it this time! Even if nobody reads them writing has always been a great way for me to let out some stress and I have definitely needed all of the destressors I can find lately. Anyways off to the letter...

To my husband:

I don't even know where to begin. I have too many things running through my head and can't decide where to start. You have given me so much in the past 5 1/2 years and it really seems like we have been together forever now. I still don't know what made you text me that first night we hung out and although it was most certainly the most awkward "date" I've ever had, it was obviously well worth the time.

I still remember the night you proposed. I'm not sure how you pulled it off without me knowing. I think the dinner from Rock Bottom made it easier for you to hide your nerves. Maybe if I had tried my own chicken fried steak instead of trading you for your bacon cheeseburger, I would have gotten sick instead then you couldn't have blamed your stomach problems on the food instead of nerves! I also remember how I kept asking why you wouldn't take your coat off even though it was extremely hot in the ValAir ballroom while we were waiting for the concert to start. I really was clueless! You should be proud that I can actually remember details from something:)

I would love to say that our wedding day was one of the best days of my life and although for the fact that we were officially married it was, but at the same time we both know it wasn't. I probably should have given in and just gone to Vegas like we talked about but at least overall it was a wonderful day (minus my mother) and I have gorgeous pictures to show from it! Oh and also I still have you<3

I can't say I remember a lot of life before kids. We didn't do much except work, be bored, and sleep, so now we just have some entertainment to replace those boring hours-and then some. You giving me the two wonderful children we have is the greatest gift ever. The fact that you want to bless me with more children is just as amazing. It is crazy to look at them everyday and think that they are a part of each of us. I still think that Jaxton has your attitude though! Bentley is just sweet like his mama.

I know we have had a lot of rough times, especially over the past couple of years, but I am thankful that we continue to work through everything. I wish I was able to talk more because I know communication has to be open for relationships to work but I promise I am trying. I really think that moving will help us both depend on ourselves and eachother more and it will bring us closer together. It will definitely make us appreciate the little things a lot more.

I could go on forever posting about why I love you and the things we have been through but I'm already up way past my bedtime just to make sure this was posted on day 30. I doubt that you ever even come across this, but if you do just know that I truly do love you and appreciate everything you do for me and the boys. I know I don't say either enough.

Love,
Nikki

30 Days of Truth-Day 29

Day 29-Something you hope to change about yourself and why?

This one is very easy. I need to change so that I can be more positive about things. I am always looking at the negatives of everything and getting overly stressed out about things so I really wish I could change this. I need to look at the glass as being half full rather than half empty. I am working on this slowly but it will definitely take some time.

Day 1: Something you hate about yourself.
Day 2: Something you love about yourself.

Day 3: Something you have to forgive yourself for.
Day 4: Something you have to forgive someone for.
Day 5: Something you hope to do in your life.
Day 6: Something you hope you never have to do.
Day 7: Someone who has made your life worth living for.
Day 8: Someone who made your life hell, or treated you badly
Day 9: Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.
Day 10: Someone you need to let go.
